To charge a character, to cut it in and out of parchment
paper, enflesh him through perils and trials, in confrontations and exchanges
and concatenations, foreseeable, unthinkable. Apply conditions. Vary them finely and abruptly. Record the motions, trace them lightly on the birth-given matrix. Accelerate him on the banal
of everyday lane, in the common somber toiling and undermining routine of the usual.
Then, in the sacredness of everyday foraging, the mysticism of hoisting the
builder's boulder, and the sublime in the (for)giving routine of the usual. Gift him the life of mind. The
thirst for growth, the gaze through time, the hunger for perfection. The quest for grace. And in
the beginning of beginnings: the aim. For journey. Knowledge and enlightenment.
